Analyst - Reliability and Maintenance of Assets

Our client is an organization that has a mandate to plan, operate, and promote public transit in order to improve the efficiency of travel for people in the greater Montréal area. They are currently looking for an Analyst - Reliability and Maintenance of Assets.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance for Rolling Stock, your job will be: to contribute to the system for optimizing the reliability, maintainability, and availability of rolling stock; to update the reliability data base, integrating a computer-based reliability analysis tool to consolidate the history and knowledge of assets; to conduct the full range of failure analyses in order to detect and reduce the occurrence of breakdowns; and finally, to write up recommendations drawing on reliability analyses and build up a demonstration of the reliability of the rolling stock.

• Lead multidisciplinary working groups aimed at making rolling stock more reliable, examining performance while in service, failures, maintenance, and costs;
• Take part in the selection of a reliability analysis tool, and then use it (based on the FRACAS method or similar), applying SAP to follow up on problems and track down the root causes;
• Update the system by integrating new assets put into service by our client and removing assets given up;
• Assist and monitor maintenance suppliers in the respect of their reliability requirements and goals and in the integration with SAP;
• Analyze data from the remote diagnostic tool and the full range of events tracked on the equipment;
• Monitor serial numbers of items managed together as configurations; configure SAP and provide support to maintenance suppliers;
• Help write up reliability indicators (MDBF, MTBF, MTTR) for all known breakdowns of rolling stock;
• Extract data so that Pareto diagrams of systems, subsystems, components, and even smaller items, significant in establishing reliability;
• Bring out trends from all reliability indicators and alerts in the event of recurring problems, in order to conduct targeted analyses;
• Construct and calculate degradation trends for all rolling stock, comparing them to theoretical degradation laws to estimate survival probability;
• Analyze wear data and in particular that pertaining to the fleet's wheels, using the wear prediction tool and data collection systems;
• Propose predictive analyses based on data, events, signals, and available measures for rolling stock;
• Present results of statistical analyses and write up recommendations on the frequency of maintenance for corresponding tasks in order to provide direction for maintenance strategies;
• Present results of statistical analyses and write up recommendations for scheduling or postponing major renovations and on the development of related costs;
• Bring proposals to the management committee regarding the configuration of new items to track in SAP;
• Build tracking tools to validate the efficacy of changes and the return on investment from improvements and corrective actions;
• Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering; or any other relevant education and training;
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in reliability;
• Experience in the transportation sector (rail, road, or air);
• Functionally bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
• Proficient with tools for applied statistics and probabilities, in particular: fault trees, Weibull distribution, other degradation laws, FMEA, and the FRACAS method;
• Proficient with standard computer-based tools;
• Knowledge of the SAP software package is considered an asset.
