Our client is a rapidly growing company specializing in the design, manufacture, and installation of treatment processes for drinking water, wastewater, sludge and organic matter. They are currently looking for an automation and control specialist.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the VP Operations, your job will mainly consist of providing technical support to the project appraisal and execution team for all things involving project automation and control.

  • Read specifications in invitations to tender and identify the requirements in them;
  • Produce estimates for control panels (internally or for outside calls to tender);
  • Evaluate costs related to our automation & control services (materials, human resources);
  • Take charge of the automation and control aspects of a project, working alongside the project manager and the project engineer;
  • Write up technical specifications (book of specifications) for calls to tender for suppliers;
  • Coordinate calls to tender with suppliers of panels / integrating circuits;
  • Analyze bids and take part in the selection process;
  • Prepare project documents (e.g. lists of motors, instruments, I/O, FAT, commissioning checklists);
  • Support the project engineer in the selection of instruments and other process control components;
  • Support the project engineer in writing control logic;
  • Supervise work carried out on-site (FAT, SAT, commissioning);
  • Supervise / assist the technical service team;
  • Take part in preparing the operating & maintenance manual for projects;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • College diploma in electricity or in industrial electronics, or bachelor's degree in automated production engineering, electrical engineering, or any other relevant education;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Automaton programming knowledge;
  • Skilled with Outlook, Excel, and Word;
  • Bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, as well as process and instrumentation diagrams is considered an asset.
