Automation Specialist

Our client is a manufacturing company firmly established in Québec, specializing in the development and manufacture of products for the residential construction/renovation sector. They are currently looking for an automation specialist.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the maintenance supervisor, you will ensure that the electrical aspects of the company's equipment runs reliably and undergoes improvements, in addition to training the electrical mechanics on equipment automation.

• Develop concepts, create plans and technical specifications and study their feasibility, and then have the project approved by the administration;
• Be responsible for the programming of programmable automatons;
• Select professionals and subcontractors;
• Estimate costs and schedules for projects; plan and organize set projects;
• Ensure that health and safety regulations are respected;
• Design and produce drawings of control systems necessary for manufacturing processes;
• Work in close cooperation with the supervisor to control costs and production schedules on projects;
• Plan and organize maintenance work based on priorities;
• Write up and improve the preventive maintenance program;
• Provide support to the team of electrical mechanics;
• Identify causes of electrical failure and non-quality and find solutions;
• Control the suitable and optimal use of electrical parts;
• Be responsible for maintaining lockout procedures;
• Solve problems related to the work of electrical mechanics and suggest ways to improve their motivation and productivity while developing their sense of responsibility;
• Train workers or take the necessary steps to provide training for them;
• Ensure that in-house specifications and updates to blueprints are compliant;
• Ensure that software updates necessary for the programming of automatons and/or man-machine interfaces are carried out;
• Stay on the lookout for technological developments;
• Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

• College diploma in industrial electronics or computerized systems; diploma of vocational studies in automated systems electromechanics; or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automated production engineering, or other relevant education;
• Hold an electrical journeyman's certificate (licence C);
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
• Highly knowledgeable of automation.
