Our client, a company firmly established in Quebec, offering consulting engineering and general contractor services in the fields of the environment, forestry, geomatics and civil engineering and having developed a privileged relationship and partnerships with many aboriginal communities in Quebec is currently looking for a building estimator.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the director of civil works and building operations, you will have as main mandate to estimate the costs of each project for the building component of the company while controlling the entire submission process. As such, you will :

  • Analyze plans and specifications (scope of work, specialties concerned, particularities) ;
  • Establish the list of specialties, materials, subcontractors, and suppliers required ;
  • Proceed to price requests from different suppliers and subcontractors ;
  • Carry out the estimate of work, including the overhead costs of the project using the TPL software ;
  • Establish a preliminary timeline
  • Analyze and recommand the choice of suppliers and subcontactors for the estimate ;
  • Identify the areas for improvment and project risks ;
  • Participate in the closing of submissions with team members ;
  • Assist the project manager in starting the project ;
  • Perform every other task compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor in civil engineering, construction engineering, DEC in civil engineering, AEC in building estimates or any other relevant training ;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in building estimate ;
  • Knowledges of appropriate IT tools (TPL, MS Project, Office Suite) ;
  • Experience in civil and / or site work in Far North (an asset) ;
  • Hold a valid driving class 5 driving license ;
  • Proficiency in english (written and spoken) will be an asset.
