Building Project Supervisor

Our client is a construction contractor, specializing in the construction of medium- to large-scale institutional buildings. They are currently looking for a project supervisor.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the CEO, your job will be to plan, organize, oversee, and monitor, through the presence of foremen, the work done on various building construction sites within specified budgets and time frames, working closely with the various parties involved in the company.

• Ensure that quality standards are respected as stipulated in contractual documents.
• Identify extra work required and invoice the costs to the owner's representative;
• Take care of hiring workers for the site in cooperation with the foreman;
• Carry out administrative duties for work sites: reports, notice of change and/or extra or anything else that arises related to the project;
• Detail the prevention program required by the C.S.S.T. (Quebec workplace health and safety board) and ensure that it is applied on site;
• Take part in various site meetings (administration, technical, and coordination);
• Negotiate final costs with subcontractors;
• Ensure that extra work is approved;
• Act as the liaison between suppliers, subcontractors, and others involved in projects for which you are responsible;
• Prepare and take part in coordination schedules between subcontractors and follow up on them;
• Oversee the organization of the site and define the needs thereof;
• Plan working teams;
• Write up bids and estimates;
• See projects through to completion from acceptance of the bid through to final payment;

Required qualification

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction engineering, college diploma in civil engineering, or other relevant education and training;
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
• Experience in the institutional sector;
• Knowledge of Quebec construction laws and regulations;
• Proficient with standard computer-based tools such as Word, Excel, and MS Project.
