As Quebec’s only province-wide organization with an economic and labour force development mandate, CEDEC—the Community Economic Development and Employability Corporation—helps communities throughout Quebec to identify, assess, and prepare to act on economic development opportunities and stimulate business activity.

CEDEC lends planning expertise and follows through by brokering the strategic partnerships that make community plans a reality.

CEDEC is currently seeking a Business Advisor who will be required to work its Small Business Support (SBS) team by providing direct services to CEDEC’s small business clients across Quebec.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide business consultation to CEDEC Small Business Support (SBS) clients with a focus on sales and financing;
  • Analyze client needs; design and deliver business development service plans;
  • Keep accurate, complete and up-to-date records about clients, their needs and services provided;
  • Work with CEDEC team to ensure ongoing support and problem resolution for clients;
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge of financing opportunities for Quebec businesses;
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge of business development and sales techniques;
  • Work with CEDEC team to monitor, assess and improve the effectiveness its business services.

Requirements:

  • A university degree in a related field;
  • 3 to 5 years of small business or small business service delivery experience (Equivalencies will be considered);
  • Demonstrated capacity to assist small businesses to analyze, understand and increase their sales performance;
  • Proven ability to help small business identify financing resources and sales opportunities;
  • Outstanding customer service, networking and partnership development skills;
  • An entrepreneurial attitude with the skills necessary to thrive and innovate in a team-oriented environment;
  • Strong project management skills, with proven ability to manage projects, timelines and budgets;
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships;
  • Top-notch communication skills - both written and spoken (English and French);
  • Good knowledge of the not-for-profit sector;
  • Results oriented;
  • Ability to work in a flexible structure;
  • Respects schedules and established timelines.

Knowledge of exporting and online sales/marketing is an asset.
