Construction Operations Manager (multiple unit housing and single-family dwellings)
Our client is a construction contractor that has operated in the Québec City area for 25 years, specializing in the construction of condominiums, semidetached homes, and single-family dwellings. They are currently looking for a construction operations manager.
Nature of position
Under the supervision of the CEO, your job will be to plan, organize, oversee, and control, via project managers, work on various building construction sites within specific budgets and schedules, working closely with the various parties involved in the company.
- Supervise, overee, and organize the construction team;
- Monitor budgeted final project costs;
- Set annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly goals for construction activities;
- Establish and write up policies for your sector and get them approved;
- Make sure that construction contracts are carried out in compliance with contractual requirements;
- Oversee and take part in various types of meetings (administrative, technical, and coordination);
- Serve on the company’s managing board;
- Take care of administrative aspects of work sites: termination, reports, notice of change and/or extra and anything else that arises in the course of a project;
- Support the construction team with various requests on a day-to-day basis;
- Supply necessary information to the city to obtain permits;
- Prepare preliminary budgets based on previous project data, budgetary estimates, and estimates for specific elements of the new project;
- Meet subcontractors to work out various problems as well as meeting with them on a yearly basis;
- Apply the managing board’s decisions relating to the company’s construction work;
- Carry out any other tasks related to your duties.
Required qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or architecture; college diploma in civil engineering or architecture; or other combinations of relevant education and experience;
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the construction/renovation sector;
- Knowledgeable of Québec construction laws and regulations;
- Proficient with MS Office suite;
- Knowledge of the production of estimates is considered an asset.
Education / training
Bachelor in architecture, Bachelor in civil engineering , Bachelor in construction engineering , D.C.S. - Architecture technology, D.C.S. - Civil engineering technology.
