Design Engineer (Structural or Mechanical)

Our client is a dynamic young company specializing in the conception and manufacture of aluminium structural projects (bridges, pedestrian overpasses, marine and architectural structures, etc.), able to offer turnkey projects for engineering and architectural firms, general contractors, manufacturing companies, and even municipalities. They are currently looking for a design engineer.

Nature of position

Under the responsibility of the head of the company, your job will be to provide technical leadership related to the engineering and development of various projects, as well as providing technical support for the manufacturing team.

• Set out new concepts, design plans, and write up estimates;
• Carry out design calculations for all our projects;
• Carry out dimensioning computation for all projects;
• Direct and monitor work;
• Coordinate the design team;
• Perform technical presentations;
• Coordinate the engineering department;
• Validate compliance with national or international codes;
• Prepare and lead meetings (engineering and production);
• Develop solutions to solve engineering, site, and plant problems;
• Develop tools to optimize the efficiency of the engineering department (including calculation programs);
• Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or other relevant engineering education and training;
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with structural/mechanical and/or artwork project design;
• Experience working with metal structures;
• Fluent in French and English (spoken and written);
• Proficient with standard computer-based tools, including excellent Excel skills.
