Description

Our client as mandate us to find 12 Design Technicians for their Oakville offices. 

This role is responsible to perform field surveys to collect data for the purpose of the creation of application drawings.  This position will also be responsible to create the CAD drawings from concept to final design, drawn to scale, with the suitable detail to convey the necessary information required for the project.

Job Duties

1- Field

• Performs site surveys to collect, analyze and organize basic engineering data to develop design layouts and prepare all engineering documentation required for a complete functional design
• Prepare rough work plans for the implementation and the improvement of the outside network; analyze clients current and future needs; select and assign appropriate equipment, facilities and installations
• Design telecommunication infrastructures and facilities in accordance with engineering principles, guidelines, policies and safety standards (MDU wiring)
• Prepares layouts and detail drawings complex assemblies from notes, verbal instructions and rough or detailed sketches

2- Office

• Liaison with project coordinators and facilitators to provide quality drawings
• Develop, create, recommend, design new drawings and standardize it for multi-site application.  Include fix/edit in existing drawing to conform to the company’s current acceptable design standards
• Create CAD drawings from concept to final design, drawn to scale, suitably detailed to convey the necessary information required for approval
• Check and correct any mistakes within the drawings
• Create new and innovative methods to improve the quality of company’s drawings and the drawing process
• Complete drawings within prescribed time limit

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering or Electrical or Architectural Technology diploma is preferred
• 1 - 2 years’ experience in civil engineering environment and field experience is an asset (eg. MDU wiring, survey of road, field inspections, etc.)
• 1 - 2 years in a related field of telecommunications and/or utility construction
• Must possess a valid G level driver’s license and have access to own vehicle
• Knowledge with multi-dwelling unit (MDU) inside wiring
• Knowledge of local damage prevention regulations preferred
• Comfortable working at heights on roof tops is required
• Have experience digitizing plans
• Able to read/understand civil drawings
• Ability to generate sketches/drawing (by hand and/or computer)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio)
• Comfortable using Paper Space / Model Space;
• Follow standard drawing and printing procedures as set out by the client
• Experience using or producing Municipal Engineering Drawings would be an asset
• Be available for weekend work and overtime when requested
