Designer - Equipment and Machinery

Our client is a large-scale manufacturer of parts and components for on-road and off-road vehicles for recreational, agricultural, construction-related, industrial, defence, and automotive purposes. They are among the leaders in their field and known internationally. They are currently looking for a machinery and equipment designer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the manager - product validation, and working closely with the validation centre team, as well as with the product development teams, you will design and optimize equipment and related machinery and carry out various tests.

• Carry out any other task related to your duties.
• Start up and troubleshoot fixtures during initial testing;
• Write up technical manuals for our equipment and tools;
• Monitor manufacturing and ensure that suppliers respect our requirements;
• Prepare the full schedule for projects assigned to you; control the budget allotted to said projects;
• Produce installation drawings;
• Produce detailed drawings including tolerancing for manufacturing, as well as complete assembly drawings;
• Choose, model, and assemble various components for our equipment and machinery;
• Take charge of design review meetings for the initial design and throughout the course of the project;
• Propose various concepts when a design is requested;
• Design tools related to new products;
• Design equipment to carry out tests;

Required qualification

• College diploma in mechanical engineering, vocational diploma in industrial design, or other relevant education and training;
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
• Knowledgeable of hydraulics, pneumatics, technical machining, and instrumentation and control;
• Experience with 3D design software such as SolidWorks and Pro/ENGINEER;
• Functionally bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
• Skilled with the Office 2010 suite.
