Our client is a well-established company specializing in the development, installation, and implementation of geotechnical and structural monitoring systems, with projects carried out in more than a dozen countries. They are currently looking for a director of business development.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the company’s CEO, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and control of activities related to sales of the company’s products and services. You will contribute towards providing better service to existing clients, but also towards developing the client base through targeting potential clients. You will also be responsible for developing new business opportunities and for planning and establishing a strategy for marketing products and services in order to reach the company’s growth objectives.

  • Work with management to develop a sales and marketing strategy;
  • Produce overall growth objectives and implement strategies to reach them;
  • Promote products and services to potential clients (engineering consultants, contractors, governments, large purchasers, etc.) and follow up with them regularly;
  • Perform technical presentations for potential clients;
  • Analyze technical needs and particular clauses in calls to tender and produce cost estimates;
  • Respond to clients’ requests for information;
  • Take part in the overall sales process (presentations, bids, interactions with suppliers, client negotiations, etc.);
  • Perform promotional activities targeted at existing and potential clients, offering the company’s full range of products and services;
  • Stay on top of developments in the market, in the specific field, and in clients’ projects in order to propose action plans aimed at growing the company and developing its strategic goals;
  • Supervise the application of commercial agreements;
  • Update client information in the company’s computer network;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, construction engineering, geological, mining and mineral engineering), or other relevant studies;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Experience in a similar position as generator of potential clients, sales, or account manager;
  • Bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
  • Able to perform sales presentations to groups of people;
  • Proficient with standard computer-based tools;
  • Available to travel across Québec and occasionally elsewhere in Canada.
