Electrical Engineering Technician - Engineering Directorate

Our client, a company whose mission is to manage, operate and maintain various transport infrastructures, whose activities are divided into engineering, construction and maintenance operations is currently seeking, to continue improving the quality and efficiency of its services, for an Electrical Engineering Technician – Engineering Directorate.

Nature of position

Reporting directly to the Director, Sustainable Development, you will actively work on implementing and renewing the division’s sustainable development action plan and meeting objectives. These objectives include implementing the assessment and control of environmental risks, ensuring environmental compliance, enhancing biodiversity, and performing a characterization, inventory and clean-up of the territory. In this role, you will act as a sustainable development specialist; actively help develop and implement the strategy in this area; provide technical support required by the division; conduct, receive and analyze studies; and recommend actions. You will help meet sustainable development objectives by working with various internal partners, such as operational divisions that include asset management, major projects and network operations and maintenance as well as administrative and support services, such as procurement, communications and research. You will be involved with various internal and external initiatives to improve and integrate sustainable development throughout JCCBI’s entire value chain and play a role to educate and raise the awareness of the organization’s internal and external stakeholders.

• Provide technical expertise in monitoring the Corporation’s contracts with consultants and work with Engineering department engineers to check that contracts run smoothly by making sure they are carried out in line with terms of reference requirements (quality, scope of work, costs and deadlines) ;
• Inform engineers of issues and problem situations and put forward solutions and recommendations ;
• Help prepare additional work orders (change notices and addenda) ;
• Assist Engineering department engineers with their tasks and provide technical support to the other departments (e.g., Operations and Maintenance, IT and Construction) by providing advice and technical and administrative support, including preparing and revising documents, retrieving information, compiling data and preparing follow-up reports as needed ;
• Participate in the analysis and calculation of various data and statistics of our infrastructures ;
• Work with the engineering draftsperson by assisting with computer-aided design and prepare sketches using CAD software ;
• Visit worksites to assist engineers and carry out surveys and inspections ;
• Review existing processes and propose measures to optimize the efforts of various internal and external partners and increase work efficiency ;
• Work with other departments involved ;
• Perform any other job-related tasks and duties.

Required qualification

• College diploma in an appropriate discipline such as electrical engineering, industrial electronics or electrical technology or any other relevant training ;
• At least 10 years’ relevant experience in electrical engineering ;
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word and Outlook) as well as AutoCAD software for computer-aided design (CAD) (consultation mostly) ;
• Knowledge of the life cycle and system engineering tools ;
• Good understanding of and ability to read plans, specifications and technical drawings ;
• ASP Construction certification ;
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license ;
• Proficiency in French and English (spoken and written) ;
• Knowledge of building mechanicals and process engineering (an asset) ;
• Experience using geographical data processing systems/software (ArcGIS) (an asset) ;
• Thoroughness and focus on continuous improvement ;

• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines ;
• Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time ;
