Electro Mechanical Technician

Our client, a significant company specializing in rolling and casting metal products, is currently looking for an Electro Mechanical Technician.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the maintenance supervisor, your job will be to perform maintenance work and repair work and to install mechanical and electrical equipment. In addition, you will assemble and disassemble, adjust, and maintain the various types of equipment in the factory.

• Respect factory regulations, as well as health and safety regulations.
• Communicate information pertaining to any anomalies and/or equipment failures to your supervisor, and make recommendations;
• Take part in the start-up, in readings, and in follow-up work on electrical and mechanical projects;
• File and archive documents;
• Update existing designs;
• Check lock-out on machines as needed;
• Connect and/or disconnect electrical and mechanical equipment when needed;
• Repair and/or replace electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic parts;
• Help develop and follow up on the preventative maintenance program and keep the necessary records;
• Analyze, locate, and correct breakdowns through the use of programmable controllers;
• Install power cables and test cables;
• Maintain motor switches and replace motor brushes;
• Examine electrical units such as motors, generators, and circuit breakers to detect anomalies;
• Check equipment that is not in good working order with testing equipment such as ammeters and voltmeters;
• Carry out certain types of work, such as welding, plumbing, and machining;
• Analyze, assemble, disassemble, adjust, and maintain the various types of equipment;
• Locate and identify the causes when things break down;

Required qualification

• College diploma in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or any other relevant training;
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience;
• Hold an electrical journeyman's certificate (Licence C);
• Proficiency with programmable controllers;
• Ability to read and write in French;
• Experience reading blueprints;
• An operator's certificate for electrical machinery (overhead travelling crane) and certification as a forklift truck operator are considered significant assets;
• Available for shift work.
