Engineering Project Supervisor (Electrical and Automation)

Our client, a large company specializing in metal rolling and casting, is currently looking for an Engineering Project Supervisor for electrical and automation projects.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Engineering and Maintenance Supervisor, your job will be to manage various electrical projects (installing new lines, adding and/or modifying equipment). In addition, working with instrument technicians from the maintenance department, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the automation and inspection network and for replacing and/or adding automation equipment.

• Manage various projects;
• Present various alternatives for bids tendered;
• Estimate costs of projects;
• Plan and carry out orders in keeping with schedules;
• Supervise installations and provide sufficient follow-up;
• Supervise subcontractors working on projects;
• Design, draw, and/or revise electrical blueprints;
• Establish and check automation rules;
• Provide assistance to users as needed;
• Act as the primary reference person for automation / inspection;
• Carry out a variety of negotiations with suppliers;
• Act as an electrical consultant within the engineering and maintenance department;
• Provide technical support to the maintenance and production teams;
• Carry out all other tasks related to your duties.

Required qualification

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automated production engineering, or other relevant education and training;
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience;
• Experience managing projects in the manufacturing sector;
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
• Functionally bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
• Knowledge of programmable automatons: Modicon (Schneider), Siemens, Allen-Bradley; and programs such as Concept, Ladder, Step 5 and Step 7, etc.;
• Proficient with Excel, Word, and MS Project;
• Knowledge of actuator drive systems and variable speed drives (AC and DC), Wonderware HMIs, Modbus communications protocol, and Ethernet technology.
