Estimator

Our client is a manufacturing company specializing in the manufacture of steelwork components. They are currently looking for an estimator.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Director – Sales and Estimates, you will work autonomously in carrying out all tasks related to preparing documents for calls for tenders. The priorities for this position include evaluating costs and equipment and also acting as a liaison when tenders move into production.

• Read and understand the client’s drawings, specifications, and requirements;
• Determine materials needed based on drawings in the computer system in order to produce bills of materials;
• Analyze, calculate, and compile manufacturing hours and galvanizing hours necessary for various projects;
• Produce a request for quotation when the tender requires subcontracting;
• Complete and present tenders based on the department’s procedures and within the required timeframes;
• Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

• College diploma in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architecture, or other relevant education;
• 5 or more years of relevant experience in steelworks;
• Able to build business relationships;
• Proficient with project management software (Strumis, Fabtrol, etc.) and MS Office;
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in French and English.
