Our client is a consulting firm specializing in environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, materials engineering, hydrogeology, and building sciences. They are currently looking for a geotechnical engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of company management, your job will be to oversee and carry out various technical studies related to conventional geotechnics, roads, and existing structures.

  • Evaluate clients' needs in order to prepare geotechnical or material control proposals, working closely with business development staff;
  • Supervise the team of project managers and technicians associated with geotechnical projects and quality control;
  • Supervise laboratory testing and approve the results;
  • Work with project supervisors in order to determine the load-bearing capacity of soils for foundations, the stability of slopes, drainage, soil consolidation, and other related tasks;
  • On occasion, conduct work in the field;
  • Present results of studies to clients, including developers, contractors, and structural engineers;
  • Revise geotechnical reports and occasionally write up technical reports;
  • Supervise technicians and fieldwork professionals;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or geotechnical engineering;
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
  • Fluent in spoken and written French and English;
  • Knowledgeable of standards in the field of geotechnical engineering and material control;
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite;
  • Knowledge of GEO-SLOPE software is considered an asset.
