Our client is an engineering consulting firm specializing in the following areas: environmental, construction, and geotechnical engineering, as well as materials testing. They are currently looking for a geotechnical engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of company management, your job will be to lead and carry out various studies related to conventional geotechnics and existing constructions (bearing capacity for buildings, slope stability, etc.), in addition to conducting parking garage inspections (bill 122).

  • Perform a client needs analysis;
  • Prepare service proposals;
  • Carry out various geotechnical studies and parking garage inspections in cooperation with the various stakeholders in the company;
  • Estimate the budget for each phase of the study: fieldwork, laboratory testing and/or field testing, drawings, and drafting the report;
  • Obtain or check prices from subcontractors (drillers, excavation companies, rebar detection, chemical analysis, etc.);
  • Supervise the team of technicians involved in geotechnical projects;
  • Supervise and carry out laboratory testing and sign off on the results thereof;
  • Perform field research (permeability testing, shearing testing, sketch of parking garage, visual observations, strength testing, etc.);
  • Write up reports;
  • Present the results of the studies to clients;
  • Work on business development for the company's geotechnical operations;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or other relevant education;
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with geotechnics;
  • Bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite.
