Head of Technical Services (Maintenance and Engineering)

Our client is a large-scale plastics-processing company with a client based mainly in the food sector. They are currently looking for a head of technical services (maintenance and engineering).

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the plant manager, it will be your responsibility to manage the full range of maintenance activities at the plant, as well as to coordinate and participate in various investment projects of a technical nature.

• Carry out any other task related to your duties.
• Supervise outside firms when they carry out certain types of work and ensure that the building is maintained;
• Track employee performance in order to identify their levels of competency and provide them with opportunities to develop their skills;
• Make sure that high standards for health, safety, and hygiene are applied and maintained on the premises;
• Ensure that deadlines and budgets are respected;
• Regularly communicate with production managers in order to coordinate equipment maintenance;
• Ensure that a good work environment is maintained and that the collective agreement is respected within the department;
• Manage projects related to the improvement and efficiency of production equipment; coordinate and implement corrective measures in order to increase the reliability of production lines;
• Make sure that preventative maintenance is carried out on equipment and monitor the efficiency of production facilities and the optimization of industrial facilities;
• Provide technical support to employees in the event of equipment failure or problems with equipment; initiate corrective measures to minimize downtime;
• Plan, organize, and oversee maintenance employees;

Required qualification

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field combined with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or a college diploma in electrical engineering, industrial electronics, industrial maintenance, or any other relevant education and training combined with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
• Experience managing a maintenance team;
• Well-acquainted with instrumentation, control, and automation;
• Functionally bilingual (English and French);
• Experience managing capitalization projects (an asset);
• Proficient with standard computer-based tools;
• Strong communication skills.
