Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, an international company that is among the world leaders in the field of generation and transmission of electricity, is currently looking for a mechanical design engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the support and development department head, your job will be to carry out the full range of mechanical engineering tasks related to hydraulic products in preparing technical bids as well as in the production, installation, and start-up of the product.

• Participate in the coordination of engineering activities;
• Share the required information with all those involved in the project;
• Contribute to problem solving related to design batches (quality, cost overrun, lead time, contingencies) and to the implementation of corrective action;
• Prepare the necessary information for the production of designs, supervise production, and verify content;
• Produce technical studies and document the design descriptions using design guides while respecting the instructions of standard operating procedures;
• Optimize design, respecting contractual obligations and minimizing costs and engineering lead time;
• Validate and verify the result of technical studies;
• Carry the responsibility of the full range of technical documentation for your project;
• Respect internal and contractual requirements;
• Validate content, verify its accuracy, and ensure that it is kept up to date;
• Provide the required technical support by the other services in the unit and by subcontractors for the purposes of your project;
• Participate in developing the techniques and methods of your sector;
• Report problems that arise and propose improvements to solve them. Validate design guides, programs, and internal standards.

Required qualification

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;
• Member of l'Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
• Minimum or 3 years of relevant experience;
• Excellent knowledge of calculation methods related to strength of materials, numerical anlysis tools, materials in general, welding procedures, and, to a lesser extent, fluid mechanics
• Proficiency with ANSYS software is considered an asset;
• Fluency in spoken and written French and English.
