Our client is a company from the clean technology sector that uses an exclusive revolutionary technology to convert non-recyclable residual materials to biofuel and renewable chemical products. They are currently looking for a mechanical design engineer (industrial handling equipment) to join their expanding company.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the head engineer, your job will be to design and monitor the manufacture of solid handling equipment (conveyors) and industrial process equipment (mixers, pressurization / depressurization system, feeders, dust extractors, dryers, sorting systems, etc.) for various projects around the world.

  • Design, optimize and monitor the manufacture of process equipment for the handling and management of solid materials (the main solids being handled are of a mixed nature, such as solid urban waste [sorted waste], residue from carbonization, and water treatment sludge);
  • Define assembly methods and tolerancing of parts for the manufacture of process equipment used for the handling of solids;
  • Define and optimize the control sequences required for the implementation of batch processes;
  • Coordinate with and go meet with clients and outside engineering firms in order to take part in project-related activities;
  • Help engineers in charge of batches review final working drawings;
  • Carry out economic and technical feasibility studies;
  • Provide support to plants during the start-up of new projects;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant education and training;
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
  • Strong experience with mechanical design of machines/equipment;
  • Experience designing handling equipment;
  • Familiar with design software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other);
  • Fluent in spoken and written French and English.
