Mechanical designer

Our client, a manufacturing company, specializing in the design, manufacture and installation of equipment for the processing of forest products, is currently looking for a mechanical designer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the company management, you will have as main mandate to carry out the design of the equipment in accordance with the client's needs, while ensuring manufacturing support and working in concert with the various stakeholders of the company. As such, you will :

• Review and improve the design of the systems already developed ;
• Collaborate with the various parties in drafting work plans for the improvement of existing products or the development of new products ;
• Select the non-manufactured components and the suppliers ;
• Participate in the development and design of new products according to established standards and participate in design reviews ;
• Contact specialized suppliers to obtain a quote for all components and all machined or non-manufactured assemblies of the new product ;
• Issue all orders for all components of the new product and manage the delivery and manufacturing schedule ;
• Supervise the quality of workshop work and develop work procedures as needed ;
• Discuss improvement aspects of new products with the customer at the factory ;
• Collaborate with the sales department by producing drawings and studies for the adaptation and implementation of products for customers ;
• Participate in the project launch meeting following the obtaining of an order form by the sales department ;
• Provide all drawings required to various suppliers for obtaining supply and manufacturing quotes ;
• Collaborate if required in tests before delivery ;
• Supervise the factory installation of new products if required ;
• Perform every other task compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

• DEC in engineering or any other relevant training ;
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in design ;
• Knowledges of the design software SolidWorks ;
• Good knowledge of the MS Office suite (Word, Excel et Outlook) ;
• Excellent proficiency of French written and spoken and an intermediate level in English.
