Mechanical Draftsperson

Our client is a leader in the food processing industry, with a presence in Canada and in over 60 countries. They are currently looking for a draftsperson.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the head of engineering, your job will mainly consist of designing, implementing, and developing production lines and/or equipment.

• Discuss plans with project supervisors in order to design and implement production lines or equipment based on the needs of various in-company clients;
• Produce layouts for production lines or equipment;
• Measure various dimensions, as required, on site with clients where the production line or equipment will be installed;
• Correct and check designs before passing them on to the project supervisor;
• Include notes on ergonomics and workplace health and safety in production line and equipment designs;
• Respect the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s standards, architectural and structural concepts, and the project supervisor’s specifications for each project;
• Produce P&IDs based on established standards;
• Ensure that documents are archived and that basic designs are updated;
• Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

• College diploma in mechanical engineering or vocational diploma in industrial design;
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
• Proficient with AutoCAD;
• Proficiency with Revit is considered an asset;
• Work experience in the good industry is an asset;
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety laws and of HACCP and SQF is considered an asset.
