Mechanical engineer (design and test)

Our client, a company specialized in the design and manufacture of traffic management systems aimed at improving the fluidity, safety and efficiency of road traffic, is currently looking a mechanical engineer-design and test.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Vice President, your main mandate will be to ensure the achievement of objectives of the engineering component of the company. In addition, you will be responsible for designing, developing and test highway safety devices and systems that respect the various industry standards. You will be supported by designated professionals to guide and support you in innovation objectives and it will be your mandate to build your own team to meet the needs. Finally, you will be responsible for completing projects according to the various standards established. As such, you will :

• Develop the project, design the components and implement an impact test facility to impact testing with the existing facility, including the guide rail and stop system ;
• Perform analysis, structural and mechanical component calculations ;
• Perform 3D design and development of mechanical systems and structures ;
• Ensure the optimization, design and implementation of modifications required to increase the capacity of the firing system and the impact test installation ;
• Ensure that all new installations and product designs comply with applicable standards, including MASH testing standards ;
• Conduct research/initiatives in research and development (R&D) for the purpose of developing new road safety products ;
• Perform existing patents and participate in the development of new patents ;
• Ensures that reports and reviews are provided as required by the specifications of the grants awarded ;
• Verify new and relevant grant sources to support current and future projects ongoing or future projects ;
• Support the manufacturing team in optimizing techniques and ensuring compliance with quality specifications/standards ;
• Perform testing for external partners and companies ;
• Perform every other task compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

• Bachelor in mechanical engineering or any other relevant training ;
• Be a member of the OIQ ;
• Excellent knowledge of Solidworks design software and mastery of the Office suite ;
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience ;
• Mastery of structural design according to standards (an asset) ;
• Mastery of finite element analysis and mechanical components ;
• Good design expertise with Solidworks software ;
• Experience in patent analysis and/or writing (an asset) ;
• Rigor and attention to details ;
• Bilingualism in French and English (written and spoken).
