Naval Architect 10 years of experience (NT2015-002)

MAIN FUNCTIONS

• Perform design and engineering tasks for ships, floating structures, propulsion systems and related systems and equipment;
• Perform surveillance for naval vessel’s construction, repairs and maintenance works;
• Take part in project management and ensure relations with the component suppliers.

REQUIREMENTS

Education level : University - Graduate (Bachelor’s or Master’s) Completed.

Years of experience related to the position offered: Minimum of 10 years of experience in designing vessels of 1000 gross tonnage and over.

Description of qualifications :

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in naval architecture or relevant engineering, for example mechanical engineering with specialisation in naval architecture;
• The Naval Architect must have the necessary knowledge to perform design and project engineering, including the knowledge for application of the rules and regulations required by the classification societies;
• The candidate must also have a good knowledge of the marine industry and must be able to perform feasibility studies and prepare reports;
• English is mandatory, French is an asset.

Professional qualification recognised outside the education network :

Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (or eligible to become one).

WORKING CONDITIONS

Salary offered :   According to experience starting from 42.00$/h

Number of hours per week :  37.50

Various terms :  Group insurance after 3 months. Possible overtime. 3 weeks of paid vacation (including one week fixed at Christmas).
