Product Development Chemist (Thermoplastic)

Our partner, a multinational company in business for over 30 years and leader in it's field, is looking for a Product Development Chemist to support it's growth.

Purpose of the function:

Development of new product (formulations) to enhance performance of extruded foam. Manage development project from research to production implementation in collaboration with other departments. Ensure robustness of the product in production and support problem solving.

Key accountabilities and tasks:

• Management of development project on extruded foam;
• NPD Brief and strategy with objectives and key metrics of each project;
• Support to process for Quality;
• Problem solving and RFT / Support production troubleshooting;
• Keep up to date about new chemical / technology which can enhance product performance;
• Technology watch / patent research;
• Responsible of laboratory trial of new formulation;
• Communicate with current and new supplier to find new solutions;
• Responsible of characterising polymers and their reactions during processing, and interpretation of the result;
• Manage the project development process on the project he/she is assigned to.

Requirements:

• Degree educated in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with strong materials content;
• 5-10 years in product development of thermoplastic polymer;
• Organised and professional approach. Strong polymer chemistry knowledge. Data analysing and problem solving skills;
• Languages: Mandatory: English Ideally: French, Chinese;
• IT knowledge (Office suite), Basic statistic knowledge, Design of experiment. Understanding of Six Sigma methodology advantageous.
