Product Development Manager

Our client, a company specializing in the development and supply of industry-leading semiconductor lighting and LED solutions, with an international clientele, is currently looking for a Product Development Manager.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the operations Vice-President operations, you will be to the key individual responsible for the success of product development efforts and lead the development of exceptional lighting products in coordination with the business development and project management team. As such, you will :

• Lead the development of outstanding lighting products in coordination with the Business Development and Project Management teams ;
• Supervise product prototyping and ensure design alignment to project / product design briefing;
• Work closely with the architectural team to ensure product design compliance with project needs and client expectations ;
• Coordinate all design teams involved in the product design efforts (Electronics Eng., Mech. Eng. …) ;
• Work together with operations department to establish, consolidate, and manage all product related information, including Bill-of-Materials (BOMs) and documentation ;
• Oversee product testing and certification processes ;
• Lead product developments to ensure on-time, on-budget, on-scope, and on-quality product development ;
• Support Product Managers and Procurement Team in the preparation, release, and documentation of requests sent to suppliers in relation to product manufacturing ;
• Carry out every other task compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

• Bachelor in engineering, sciences, architecture or any other relevant training ;
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role ;
• Broad technical competencies: mechanical, electrical, electronic, computer hardware/software, web/internet ;
• Basic knowledges of Autocad, Solidworks and/or Revit ;
• Strong facilitation skills (requirement sessions, design meetings, progress and status meetings) ;
• Bilingual, French and English, essential ;
• Experience in lighting, construction and/or architectural (an asset) ;
• Passionate self-starter, with creative problem solving and critical thinking abilities ;
• Srong relationship and facilitation skills both within diverse engineering and cross functional organizations.
