Production & Maintenance Manager

Our client is an industry leader in aluminium and plastics recycling and a subsidiary of a significant European leader in recycling solutions. They are currently looking for a Production & Maintenance Manager for their sorting and recycling plant.

Nature of position

Under the direction of the head of operations, your job will be to plan, organize, direct, monitor, and evaluate, through the work of supervisors, the full range of production and maintenance activities.

• Manage production and maintenance activities;
• Manage the team of industrial mechanics and production supervisors;
• Work with the head of operations to write up maintenance strategies and improvements to processes in order to reach the company's goals;
• Create and follow up on a performance plan and work with the production team to establish priorities in order to accomplish production goals;
• Work alongside the engineering department to implement strategies aimed at optimizing the efficiency of materials processing lines;
• Help manage various equipment and facilities improvement projects;
• Take care of weekly production planning;
• Manage the preventative maintenance program in view to minimizing interruptions, maintaining quality standards, and meeting efficiency and cost goals, etc.;
• Implement and monitor policies and procedures for quality control and performance with regards to processes and maintenance;
• Ensure that the company's various rules are respected, as well as workplace health and safety regulations;
• Work with others to improve the safety of the workplace, improve operations activities, identify accident risks, and determine what corrective measures should be taken;
• Train, develop, and evaluate employees so that they carry out their work in an efficient and safe manner;
• Plan and identify staffing needs and take part in the recruitment process;
• Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, automated production engineering, or other relevant education and training;
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing sector;
• Significant experience as a production team supervisor and/or maintenance supervisor;
• A strong knowledge of mechanics, automation / continuous process;
• Bilingual (spoken and written French and English);
• Proficient with MS Office and MS Project;
• Skilled with managing and coaching a production and maintenance team;
• Acquainted with industrial realities (just in time, MRP, 5S, Kaizen, etc.).
