Production Supervisor (Night Shift)
Our client is a company specializing in the design and manufacture of systems and components for the automotive industry. They are among the leaders in their field. They are currently looking for a production supervisor.
Nature of position
Under the supervision of the unit manager, your job will be to organize, control, and direct production activities for your shift with a view to meeting the plant’s general operational objectives.
- Communicate, monitor, and improve upon objectives to be reached and results achieved by the team under your supervision;
- Prioritize, assign work, and manage the production staff of your shift;
- Lay out daily and weekly priorities with your team regarding corrections and/or improvements in order to respect the production plan;
- Maximize the plant’s production capacity by managing emergencies and problems that arise during your shift;
- Track performance of each production unit on a day-to-day basis, identifying anomalies, analyzing the causes thereof, and identifying solutions;
- Ensure that standards are respected with regards to productivity, health and safety, and quality;
- Take disciplinary measures when needed and make sure that the administrative policies in the collective agreement are applied;
- Promote the company’s values in terms of health and safety, quality, and the environment;
- Lead discussions in working groups in order to improve the performance of production units and the autonomy of production staff;
- Lead continuous improvement kaizens regarding workplace health and safety, quality, and productivity;
- Develop the potential of team leaders through individualized coaching;
- Motivate and support employees;
- Carry out any other task related to your duties.
Required qualification
- College diploma in business administration, industrial or mechanical engineering, production management, or other relevant studies;
- At least 3 years of experience as a supervisor in a unionized environment;
- Leadership, excellent communication skills, and ability to motivate others;
- Proficient with Lean Manufacturing tools;
- Skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.);
- Experience in the automotive industry and/or in plastics processing is considered an asset;
- Demonstrated listening skills, ability to understand, and management ability.
