Project director - construction or building rehabilitation

Our client, a consulting firm specialized in materials engineering (site and laboratory tests, pavement design, expertise on materials and project management), geotechnology (drilling, exploration trenches, slope stabilization and expertise on soils) and in the environment (soil characterization and management of contaminated materials), is currently looking for a project director – construction or building rehabilitation.

Nature of position

Our client, a consulting firm specialized in materials engineering (site and laboratory tests, pavement design, expertise on materials and project management), geotechnology (drilling, exploration trenches, slope stabilization and expertise on soils) and in the environment (soil characterization and management of contaminated materials), is currently looking for a project director – construction or building rehabilitation.

• Read the plans and specifications ;
• Prepare service offers for the projects entrusted to it ;
• Establish an inspection and testing program in accordance with plans and specifications ;
• Identify, in the distribution database and / or in the dispatcher, the needs in human and material resources (equipment) ;
• Act as the first responder for any issue facing the technician on site ;
• Coordinate inspections and tests by field technicians ;
• Meet the needs of the site in terms of geotechnics and the environment ;
• Ensure that the materials used comply with requirements and put in place according to standards and good industry practices ;
• Identify materials or work that does not comply with requirements and ensure follow-up ;
• During the mandate, identify training needs for the coordinator of auditors / trainers (if necessary) ;
• Actively participate in site meetings ;
• Travel on site, on request, to carry out support visits and / or tests ;
• Know the work schedule and communicate personnel and equipment needs ;
• Check field and laboratory test reports according to applicable standards ;
• Periodically send reports to clients ;
• Follow up on non-conformities and corrective actions ;
• Write progress and final reports ;
• Prepare the weekly billing follow-up according to the established service offer ;
• Respect the budgets and deadlines established with the client and stakeholders ;
• Participate in the preparation of monthly invoices ;

Required qualification

• Bachelor in civil engineering, construction engineering, or any other relevant training ;
• Minimum 10 years of relevant site construction experience in the field of materials engineering ;
• Good knowledges in applicable standards (CCDG, BNQ, LC, etc.) ;
• Experience in new building construction project management ;
• Mastery in french (written and spoken) ;
• Excellent proficiency in Office Suite ;
• Be a member in good standing of l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec ;
• Having a valid driving license and a car ;
• Ability to manage several projects at the same time, priorities, and stress.
