Senior Developer — food & beverage

Reporting to the Team Lead of Product Development and Procurement, the Senior Developer — Product and Procurement (Food and Beverage) will assist the Head of Department in carrying out the strategy developed by the planning team, develop products, and ensure procurement in order to achieve financial objectives.
- Work with the Team Lead of Product Development and Procurement to develop and execute merchandising strategies for the food and beverage business line;
- Develop products in accordance with the product assortment plan previously established by the planning team for the following product categories: food (M-11), alcohol (M-12) and beverages (M-13);
- Carry out research and perform analyses of market trends for new products so as to maintain sustained growth (competitive intelligence);
- Adapt a portion of our catering products according to the territories visited, the local tastes of our consumers, and the season of the year in which we’re visiting the territories with our various touring shows;
- Continually seek out new and innovative suppliers so as to better meet the organization’s needs, reduce costs, achieve our sustainable development objectives, and establish long-term partnerships;
- Negotiate purchasing prices in line with the sales strategy, purchase items and follow up invoicing;
- Request and review price quotes for reordered products so as to obtain the best prices and the best delivery arrangements;
- Develop and carry out a procurement plan with the Planner so as to meet pre-determined sales targets and profit margins;
- Work closely with touring shows to ensure the constant supply of products while keeping inventory shortages to a minimum and respecting deadlines;
- Communicate with suppliers to set delivery schedules and solve problems related to missing items, forgotten deliveries, etc;
- Assist the Planning team in updating the product assortment plan so that it reflects the new deliveries, cancelled products or any other changes;
- Think outside the box to renew and reinvent ourselves and surprise our consumers with products that liveup to the Cirque du Soleil brand;
- Proactively communicate the issues and risks with both his or her superior and colleagues, and find solutions to mitigate them;
- Assess and negotiate competitive sales prices with suppliers;
- Coordinate the management of contracts and make sure they are in compliance;
- Manage supplier performance, handle returns, perform follow-ups, and evaluate the services received;
- Maintain excellent business relationships with suppliers;
- Visit trade shows in order to remain abreast of product trends and best procurement practices.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, commerce, marketing or equivalent;
- Certification by the Canadian Purchasing Management Association (CPP) an asset;
- Minimum of six to eight years’ experience in a similar role;
- Experience in retail, consumer products and/or food and beverage;
- Organizational skills, curiosity and thoroughness when working;
- Good communication skills, team spirit and flexibility;
- Excellent analytical skills and insight;
- Enthusiasm for changing challenges;
- Ability to think outside the box to renew and reinvent yourself;
- Ability to negotiate with suppliers autonomously or with little interference;
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks;
- Ability to work well under pressure and to handle high volumes of work with constantly changing priorities;
- Ability to read and understand MRP reports, stock statuses and material variance reports;
- Interest in the social and environmental responsibility of companies;
- Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel,Outlook, PowerPoint), Illustrator, AdobePro, etc.;
- Efficient use of PC and Microsoft software;
- Knowledge of SAP or another operating system;
- Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written;
- Availability to travel.
