Our client, a well-established Quebec-based contractor specializing in industrial process projects executing piping, mechanical, boiler making, ventilation and structural projects in Canadian heavy industry, is currently seeking for a Senior Estimator.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Director of Estimating, your main mandate will be to plan, supervise and participate in estimates for projects in the Construction, Mechanical and Mining divisions. As such you will :

  • Coordinate the production of competitive bids and establish competitive bidding strategies in collaboration with Division Managers and Project Managers ;
  • Participate in the estimation of major projects by participating, when required, in bidding visits and in the evaluation of the installation time ;
  • Supervise his team, while supporting them in their daily tasks through coaching ;
  • Request quotations from strategic suppliers and subcontractors ;
  • Find an original approach that allows us to present a competitive price to the customer with the expected gross profit margin and in compliance with the customer's and company's standards ;
  • Promote and ensure the respect of our values and the prevention of health and safety in the preparation of bids ;
  • Promote other services offered by the company ;
  • Carry out every other task compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

  • Excellent knowledge of construction processes in the industrial sector ;
  • Experience in industrial construction ;
  • Experience in estimating major projects ;
  • Ability to solve client problems in an innovative and cost effective manner ;
  • Ability to analyze project business issues and risks for clients and the company ;
  • Have advanced functional English to communicate easily with English speaking clients.
