Our client is a company specializing in the design of complex buildings for the industrial, institutional, and commercial sectors. They are currently looking for a senior structural technician.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the head of engineering, you will serve as the main technician and will have the job of coordinating, designing, and supervising the production of the department’s plans and specifications based on the company’s standards.

  • Coordinate and orchestrate all construction projects in order to reach established goals;
  • Support and supervise the team of draftsmen on a day-to-day basis;
  • Develop and prepare models and engineering drawings and plans from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specifications, and other data;
  • Verify drawings to make sure they comply with specifications and with quality standards;
  • Visit various sites in order to collect data necessary to produce plans and specifications;
  • Produce drawings and engineering plans (preliminary, definitive, and “as built”);
  • Coordinate all plans with other disciplines and other offices as the draftsman in charge;
  • Perform structural surveys;
  • Participate in coordination meetings;
  • Plan and prepare sketches with project engineers;
  • Communicate and follow up on plans;
  • Ensure that projects meet the company’s quality standards;
  • Work in close cooperation with project managers, the detail drawing and production teams in order to optimize your work;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • College diploma in architecture or civil engineering or vocational diploma in building drafting or any other relevant education;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant structural experience;
  • Proficient with Revit and the Windows environment;
  • Skilled in reading architectural and engineering plans, particularly in steel structures;
  • Proficiency with Teckla software is considered a significant asset.
