Our client is a company that offers a wide range of services, products, and innovative technology related to the road safety sector. They are a major supplier for the Québec government. They are currently looking for a service technician.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the technical director, your job will mainly consist of ensuring that traffic systems are operational at all times. To this end, you will perform repair work on electronic equipment, install equipment, and answer service calls in the field or in the workshop.

  • Inspect systems installed on the road (Montréal area, south shore, north shore, Québec City, and Gatineau);
  • Prepare and write up technical reports;
  • Carry out communication between the client and the supplier and follow up on what has been communicated;
  • Perform installation, start-up, and preventative maintenance on road safety systems such as weather stations and photo radar systems;
  • Perform diagnostics on units or components in the field;
  • Replace electronic components and circuit boards as needed;
  • Analyze equipment in order to identify problems;
  • Evaluate diagnostics in order to determine needs for preventative or corrective maintenance, and perform repair work on equipment, software, and systems, as needed;
  • Meticulously document the technical status of a system and get equipment back into operation;
  • Document information for each on-site visit, in compliance with all applicable policies, practices, and safety procedures;
  • Carry out delivery and reception of goods;
  • Write up electronics work orders;
  • Manage inventory of equipment and spare parts;
  • Serve as an expert witness in court;
  • Repair trailers and other equipment using mechanical tools provided;
  • Carry out any other task related to your duties.

Required qualification

  • College diploma in computer science, electrical engineering, industrial electronics, electronics, industrial maintenance, or other relevant education;
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
  • Highly knowledgeable of electronics and basic knowledge of computer network technology;
  • Car owner and holder of a valid driver's licence;
  • Fluent in spoken and written French and English;
  • In good physical condition.
