Structural engineer

Our client, a fast-growing company specializing in prefabricated building structures and offering a range of turnkey products, starting from plans design to factory manufacturing and site installation, is currently seeking a structural engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the General manager, you will have as main mandate to calculate and approve the various structural elements in the company's system. In addition, you will respond to various requests from the technical department while ensuring the compliance of the calculations. As such, you will :

• Ensure the conformity of the design calculations according to the various standards ;
• Verify and/or adapt the plans and quotes according to the company's standards ;
• Proceed to the verification and approval of steel beams ;
• Proceed to the calculation and approval of assemblies ;
• Prepare sketches for technicians and project managers ;
• Approve load calculations for beams and decks ;
• Respond to requests for engineering corrections from the construction sites ;
• Respond to substitution requests from technicians and project managers ;
• Participate in internal coordination meetings ;
• Conduct expertise, work plans and capacity analyses on the company's products ;
• Follows work safety guidelines ;
• Carry out any other tasks related to your duties.

Required qualification

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction engineering or any other relevant experience ;
• Master's degree in applied science, (specialization in structure an asset) ;
• Strong interest in structural steel ;
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience ;
• Must be a member of the OIQ ;
• Proficient with the softwares: ADA, ETABS AutoCAD, Excel and Ideastatica (an asset) ;
• Good knowledge of steel structure calculations ;
• Knowledge of CSA-S16, CSA-S136 and CSA A23.3 standards (an asset) ;
• Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
