Responsibilities

• Understand the project and task-specific objectives in order to facilitate optimum implementation of the project;
• Understand the technical basis of the tasks you undertake, particularly those related to installations and equipment;
• Undertaking site-based tasks such as monitoring, sampling (soil, waters, gas, etc.) and tasks related to ground and groundwater remediation;
• Supervise field work by others such as drillers, surveyors or specialist contractors (such as ecologists);
• Supervise other team members or third-party contractors as required by the Project Manager and the Team Leader;
• If appropriate, supervise and monitor excavation and related earthworks as directed by the Engineer or Project Manager;
• Liaise with the Engineer and/or Project Manager to highlight issues such as problems on site, risks to the project and training requirements;
• Ensure all tasks you undertake, including those that you supervise, are undertaken in a safe manner to the appropriate level of quality and in accordance with Company procedures and policy;
• Ensure accurate documentation of all tasks in accordance with Company and Project requirements;
• Ensure appropriate and accurate documentation of all monitoring, on-site testing, laboratory analysis and waste management. Ensure monitoring & testing equipment is appropriately calibrated with relevant documentation. Ensure that this documentation is checked, signed and appropriately filed;
• Other tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Academic Education

• HNC in chemistry – required;
• BSc in environment field with emphasis on contaminated land and particularly remediation – an asset.

Experience

• 0 to 2 years of experience in a similar role.

Additional Requirements

• Safety training is required.
